National Park Service
The National
Park Service serves as steward of our nation's resources and
the teller of our stories. Lake Mead National Recreation Area
is a startling contrast of desert and water, mountains and canyons,
primitive backcountry and busy marinas.

and Wildlife Service
The U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service, dedicated to conserving, protecting,
and enhancing fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for
the benefit of the American people by managing four national

Bureau of Land Management
BLM manages
more than 68 percent of Nevada's public lands. These lands range
from cliff dominate-river channels, high elevation mountains,

U.S. Forest Service
The U.S.
Forest Service manages the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest
in Nevada. Encompassng over 6 million acres, it is the largest
National Forest in the lower 48 states. These high-elevation
scenic jewels vary from snow-capped mountains to scenic desert

The Outside
Las Vegas Foundation enhances the connection between the people
and the public lands surrounding the Las Vegas Valley. Volunteer

The UNLV Public Lands Institute
The Public Lands Institute manages the “Get Outdoors Nevada Program”,
an interagency volunteer program. The four federal agencies have been
working together towards since 1999 to achieve a more landscape level
approach to volunteerism. The purpose of the Interagency Volunteer
Program is to:
- Develop and administer a central clearinghouse and single point
of contact for public lands volunteers.
- Develop a joint volunteer recruitment process with a single
database, website and application forms.
- Develop joint volunteer training programs.
- Connect volunteers and volunteer groups with specific land
management projects such as litter clean-up, research, restoration,
outdoor education, invasive weed removal, trail maintenance,
native plant propagation, site stewardship, etc.
- Train interagency volunteer project leaders.
- Develop coordinated volunteer recognition programs.
